Many countries lack the ability to advance their cultures because their current education systems lack the resources to teach English and bridge the gaps in technology, trade, tourism and others.
One of the more valuable contributions teachers bring to projects, oftentimes unconsciously, is an insight to their world's back home. Many schools in developing countries have little access to the internet or resources about current international events and societies abroad. To have a living, breathing foreigner in their classroom to tell them about another country is quite an experience for many students.
Teaching provides one of the more subtle "intangibles" to a community that is valuable beyond measure. That intangible offering is a foundation of knowledge, or at the very least an initiation of curiosity in a group of young minds to build on. That foundation is a platform to build up their own experiences, communities and sense of place in the larger world.
Providing students with simply the idea that there is another lesson to be engaged with, another way of thinking and another set of ideas they can utilize to better themselves and their communities can never be measured, but will also never go unnoticed.
