![]() ![]() Work with children in Ghana and support teaching projects in one of several indigenous communities with GVI. By volunteering in this West African country, you will help to educate children who, without assistance, may never receive a formal education. Offer your support to the overcrowded and understaffed local schools, and work with children ranging in age from infant through to secondary school. Depending upon your experience and interests, you may teach literacy, math, music, sports, drama and/or art. Join this GVI project and immerse yourself in the fascinating history and rich culture to be found in Ghana. *How this program makes a difference* There are two aspects to GVI’s work on these projects. Schools are overcrowded and the teacher to student ratio makes it hard to ensure each student receives the attention they deserve. GVI volunteers help to ease this burden and provide assistance in the classrooms. In addition, the schools which GVI works with often lack even the most basic learning materials and teaching aids – the government is meant to supply text books, but there are never enough to go round. With money raised through volunteers, some teaching and learning materials for the schools have already been acquired, but there is still a great deal more which can be done. Highlights:
